About the event
When is the last time that you felt seen and heard about something that you care deeply about?
Virtual Laundry Days are a call for women* to gather together, opportunity to listen and to be heard, and to foster the love and understanding that resists hate and injustice.
Laundry Day workshops are facilitated by Andrea Downs, Artist and Founder of Airing Out the "Dirty" Laundry. Her hope is to create brave, supportive, and safe spaces for all to create pieces of visual storytelling that speak up and speak out about themes and acts of injustice.
Virtual Laundry Days are intentionally designed for small groups of women to meet together 2 times for 1-hour sessions. There are 2 weeks scheduled in between the Laundry Days so that participants will have time to further process their ideas and purchase or collect materials to use to create their pieces. Andrea will also offer specific suggestions in terms of materials as a part of the first gathering. The second Laundry Day will be specifically dedicated to beginning to create together and hold space for each other through the process.
No prior experience sewing or art making is necessary.
This experience is for any individual who would like their voice to be heard.
Participants will let their stories breathe together by mailing them to the address below where they will be joined together on the laundry clothesline with the more than 400 stories already in the collection.
There is so much strength and beauty in the collective voice.
Interested participants must RSVP for BOTH workshop dates (6/26 and 7/10) here to receive the Zoom links prior to the two dates.
Mail your laundry piece to:
