About the event

We all have a story to tell.

Be a part of the narrative, make your story visible, and connect with others who will appreciate you, in a comfortable, safe, and brave space.

This Virtual Laundry Day space is being held specifically for you and a family member that you would like to invite. Please consider inviting your mom, aunt, sister, wife, adult daughter, partner, close friend that you consider family, cousin, mentor, faith leader, etc. I'm bringing my sister, Megan, who is pictured here.

Please share this invitation and RSVP so that you will receive the email that includes the Zoom link the day before the event.

Laundry Days provide opportunities for you to share your story, experience, and truth through the creation of a piece of visual storytelling

You don't need any artistic skill to participate, just a desire to share your story.

There is also never any pressure to share your story verbally. Some women just need to hold space with other women to be able to process a story. Along these lines, please connect to the meeting in a space that feels most comfortable and safe to you.

These hour-long Virtual Laundry Day opportunities hold space for you to hear more about the inspiration and purpose behind Airing Out the "Dirty" Laundry, see a variety of examples of pieces that women have already created, and time to begin considering the story that you would like to share.

If possible, identify and have available articles of clothing or other textiles or pieces of fabric, photos or even things that you have written that could serve as the base layer for your piece.

Your signed or anonymous piece can be created and completed at home and then mailed to me at 613 Neill Ridge Road, Matthews, NC 28105 and will become a part of the collection of women's stories and joined together on laundry clotheslines in ongoing installations of Airing Out the "Dirty" Laundry.

*** All pieces that are created and mailed to me by June 15th, 2020 will be joined together on laundry clotheslines with the entire collection of women's stories at The Mint Museum Uptown from June 19th-August 9th, 2020 ***

Please connect with women's stories aotdl.org, Instagram @womenslaundry, and FB - Airing Out the "Dirty" Laundry

*Airing Out the “Dirty” Laundry holds space for all women across the intersections of race, age, color, disability, faith, religion, ancestry, national origin, citizenship, social class, economic class, ethnicity, gender identity and gender expression.
